2009 Awards
ACCESS-IT 2009 Awards
The first stage of ACCESS-IT 2009 award competition has been completed. Around 100 nominations have been submitted from 24 countries including countries outside Europe like United States, Australia, Syrian Arab Republic in the area of e-Accessibility and inclusive ICT, all of them of remarkable significance, that have been evaluated and 19 finalists have been selected for the four ACCESS-IT awards and 44 additional nominations have received the label of ACCESS-IT 2009 good practice label. All the finalists as well as the ones receiving the ACCESS-IT 2009 good practice label will be included in a special electronic publication on ACCESS-IT 2009. In this respect, a wide range of people with disabilities and elderly and their communities (carers, family, rehabilitation experts, SEN professionals, AT experts, etc) from all around Europe will be informed on the awarded ICT services and products and how they can use them or take paradigms.
All finalists will be rewarded at the ACCESS-IT 2009 event ceremony on the 23rd Sept, and we would encourage anyone involved in the area of e-Accessibility and Assistive Technlogy to attend this unique event. Participation is free and there are still some places left but you need to register as soon as possible.
This year, we have launched four special awards:
- 1. ACCESS-IT@Home This award will recognise an ICT based project, product or service that advances independent living for people with disabilities or elderly.
- 2. ACCESS-IT @Work This award will recognise an ICT based project, product or service that facilitates persons with disability to work independently.
- 3. ACCESS-IT@Learning This award will recognise an ICT based project, product or service that facilitates persons with disability or elderly to get educated in an affordable, accessible, usable and efficient manner.
- 4. ACCESS-IT@Web2.0 This award will recognise a project, product or service that advances accessibility on web 2.0. ACCESS-IT event in general and especially ACCESS-IT@Web2.0 award are endorsed by IWA (International Webmasters Association)
The selection process is based on four award criteria that assess the relevance for the aiming award, its impact, its affordability and openness, and its validation level.
